Quickening our Human spirits into His Holy Spirit

Quickening our Human spirits into His Holy Spirit

spirit wearing soul

Paul said that he served God in his spirit, and as many as are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God. (Romans 1:9, & 8:14)

When I have prayed with those who are dying, I have felt the peace of God fill the room and surround that individual as he or she took their last breath. I have felt their human spirit leave their bodies as angels escorted them upward toward their Lord Jesus Christ.

Near Death Experiencers all speak of seeing themselves leave their bodies, and of  being able to look down into the operating room and describe the details of that room as well as details of other areas of the hospital. They also say that in their out-of-body experiences they are able to communicate by just thinking and feeling; no words are necessary.

Dr. Reggie Anderson, in his book “Appointments with Heaven”, describes being able to feel the spirits of his dying patients leave their bodies as he sat by their side praying for them. Some of his patients have seen their angels come for them to escort them to their Lord.

I Thessalonians 5:23 says, “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

Jesus said in John 4:24, “God is a Spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.”

Jesus said in John 14:17, “Even the Spirit of Truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.”

Jesus said in John 15:26, “But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of Truth, which proceedeth from the Father; He shall testify of me.”

Jesus said in John 16:13, “Howbeit when He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak, and He will show you things to come.”

Jesus told Nicodemus that we must be born again to be able to enter into the Kingdom of God.

When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, their spirits died unto the things of God. Their spirits were able to communicate with God in the garden, without words; but as soon as they were escorted out of the garden, their spirits no longer were able to fellowship with God’s Spirit.

Ephesians 2:2-3 says, “Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the ‘Prince of the Power of the air’, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience. Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.”

According to Scripture, and through testimony of others, and by personal experience, there is more to a human being than our intellect and emotions. God has given each person a living soul that transcends the human mind and lives for eternity once the body of flesh has decayed back to dust in the grave.

The spirit of man is able to see, feel, hear, understand, think, speak without words and move without limitations; just like Jesus did in His Glorified body after His resurrection.

The spirit of man is trapped inside his earthly body. Our culture teaches us to pamper our bodies and to develop our minds; and if we deal with our spirit-man, then it is through meditation practices that entertain demon spirits rather than the Holy Spirit of Christ. As a result, we live in a world of stress and insecurity because we are trying to understand a spirit world from a natural perspective.

But Jesus promised peace in the midst of our tribulations, as we yield ourselves to obey His teachings by the empowering of His Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is to be our comforter, our helper, our guide into Truth, our advocate, our deliverer, our inspiration as what to say when persecuted for Christ, our rest, our strength, our living waters that refresh the soul, as well as the one who sanctifies and cleanses us on a daily basis as we read and pray over His Holy Spirit filled Word.

The New Birth quickens our dead human spirits and makes them alive to the Presence of God’s Holy Spirit around us and in us. It gives us the desire to be like Him and bear fruit that is after His character. Paul said that as many as are led by the Spirit, they are the sons of God. (Romans 8:14)

Jesus said a kernel of wheat has to fall into the ground and die or it remains a single seed. (John 12:24)

Brother Lawrence practiced the Presence of God even when he was washing dishes in a noisy kitchen. Watchman Nee was able to write about releasing the Spirit, because he had spent so much time reading and studying the Word of God in hours of daily prayer.

The place to begin is to spend time in His Word, as His Word is spirit and life. They are living words from God to our spirit-man. The Living Word will quicken our human spirits to desire to pray and praise and give Him thanks. As we enter into this atmosphere of worship and tune out everything around us, then we will begin to experience the Holy Spirit working His character into our lives. Paul said we live and move and have our being in God’s Spirit, and He is not far from any of us if we ‘feel’ after Him with our spirits empowered by His Holy Spirit! (Acts 17:28)
