Spirit Being
You are more than your intellect. You are more than your education. You are more than your material possessions. You are more than all of your personal experiences of good and bad. You are a spirit being, created in the image of almighty God. Your spirit will live for eternity with God, or with the evil one.
You can’t impress God with your earthly goods and deeds
Your body will die and go back to dust from whence it came. Your degrees will yellow, age and return to dust. Your material possessions will be passed on to someone else or be discarded; and they, too, will deteriorate and go back to dust. Your intellect will not impress an all-knowing God. Your personal experiences will not sway the Judge of all flesh.
Peace with God is all that matters
The only thing that will matter when you are lying on your death-bed and breathing your last breath is if you have made peace with your Maker.
There are those who say that they do not believe in a Creator. They do not believe in God. They believe only in what they can see, and what they can experience, and in what they can understand with their finite mind.
There are others who say they believe in the force of the Universe, which connects all things in the cosmos; an invisible force that is everywhere, and intends everything into the universe. The source is kind, loving and peaceful. It is non-judgmental and excludes no one.
The only way to the Father is through Jesus Christ as the Son of God and as the Lamb that takes away the sins of the whole world. If you do not know Jesus in a personal relationship, then you do not have access to the Father who created you to dwell with Him for eternity.
Born into sin with a sinful nature
You and I and the whole world have been born into sin; and it is natural for us to disobey the teachings of God written in our conscience. The natural man does not desire the things of God, but he does desire the things that please the flesh and his ego; and most of these things are selfish. Jesus says we must be Born Again to enter into His kingdom.
It Takes a personal confession to bring Christ into your heart
It takes a personal confession of your sins, to God, asking Him to forgive you, to wash away those sins in the Blood of His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus said to Martha:
“I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26)

Dr. Ronald Whitaker believed in the power of the universe, because he had seen it as a physician dealing with life and death. He had little patience in people who talked about God. Everything had to be described by science. Then, one day, he was hit with severe abdominal pain and checked into a hospital. The doctors told him he had acute hemorrhagic necrotic pancreatitis, which is pretty much a death sentence. He went into a coma and heard doctors and nurses talking about him, saying he would never leave the hospital. After three days, he was able to breathe again on his own. The doctor told him if he had anything that needed signed, he needed to get it done; because they didn’t know how much time he had.
Ronald was a hard-core atheist and lived for himself, drinking and partying
He also was a very renowned medical doctor who had risen from poverty in Oklahoma to be a powerful man in that part of the country.
He heard the doctors tell his two sons that he would be dead by morning. And he was scared that he was an atheist who didn’t believe in God. He says:
“It is easy to be an atheist when you’re young and successful. It’s easy to be an atheist when you have done all that. But it is very difficult to be an atheist when you’re on your death-bed.”
Testimony of Ron Short for five years
His friend, Ron Short, had witnessed to him about Christ for five years before he became ill. Ron debated with him and liked him, but he didn’t agree with him. Ron was the first person to come into his mind on his death-bed. “What if Ron is right? What if there is a God? How do I get saved? What is saved?” He asked for Ron to visit him.
Ron couldn’t get to him that day; so he had to survive one more long night without dying, without knowing God. That night, he had his Near Death Experience and felt untold terror!
He knew if he went all the way into the darkness, that he would never come back. He fought all night to stay away from that darkness. He felt himself leaving his body and slipping into that darkness. As he fought it, he felt himself return to his body with a thud. He says this was the most terrifying experience he had ever encountered.
When Ron finally arrived, he went right to the scripture about Jesus dying for the sins of the world. Dr. Whitaker was led in a sinner’s prayer; and as he repeated the prayer, he experienced an inner-peace unlike anything he had ever encountered before. He had searched for peace in alcohol, drugs, women and partying; but could not find what he found when he asked Jesus to forgive him of his sins and come into his heart to live.
Doctor Whitaker was no longer afraid, even knowing he had only hours to live
He was a doctor, and he knew that people do not survive this illness. But the doctor didn’t die. Against all odds he had a full recovery, and is convinced that God saved him from death’s door. Today, he is telling others about his faith in Jesus Christ as the only way to God and eternal life.

What if what you have been told, about Jesus just being a good moral teacher, is wrong?
Where will you go as you leave your body at the hour of death?
Today is the day of salvation, and God is not far from anyone of us, if we will feel after Him. All who call upon the Name of God, will be saved. God is not willing that any perish, but that all come to eternal life. No man can come to me unless the Father draws him. (II Cor. 6:2, Acts 17:27, Romans 10:13, II Peter 3:9, John 6:44)
Ask Christ to reveal Himself to you personally.
Ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins, and for living for yourself. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you in a personal way. Ask Him to let you know that you are ready to die when your hour comes. He loves you, and wants to forgive you of whatever you have done wrong. His love surpasses any love that a human being can show toward you. He is very merciful, and gently calls you to come to Him. He understands the sinful nature of our flesh. He will give you the strength to live for Him and do that which pleases Him, in this life and the one to come.
David said in Psalms 124:8 that our help is in the Name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” That Name of Jehovah manifested in Jesus Christ, and is the most powerful name in the whole universe! Call on it today, while you have a free will to choose where you will spend eternity.
