Jesus is Praying for You Right Now, Even as You Sin!!!

Jesus praying for us

“Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever lives to make intercession for them.” (Hebrews 7:25

“Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.” (Romans 8:34)

“My little children, these things I write unto you that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous: And He is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” (I John 2:1-2)

Jesus our High Priest

Jesus not only came to be the savior of the world as the Lamb of God, He also came to be our Great High Priest, to be able to make intercession for us to His Father. Paul says Christ is the only mediator between God and man, the one who can reconcile us to God by His Grace and Righteousness. (I Timothy 2:5)

All men sin, including believers

John is instructing us that all men sin, whether they be saints or sinners. A sinner has to repent and turn away from the sin, and commit to follow the Lord by obeying His teachings in all areas of life. Faith in God comes from God, as the author and finisher of our faith, and no man can come to God unless He draws him; and God loves us first, before we can love Him.

Faith then leads to a regenerated heart, and a desire to obey the things of the Spirit instead of the flesh. A regenerated heart leads to water baptism as a symbol of burying the old man and rising as a new man to walk in a new life. Water Baptism then leads to desiring more of God, through His Holy Spirit who sanctifies us, or sets us apart, for His purpose in the Kingdom of God. The Holy Spirit quickens our human spirit and joins it together with His Holy Spirit to be empowered to resist the works of the flesh, and to be led by His Spirit to do those things which please Him in our daily lives. Paul says we can then pray with the tongues of men and of angels as the Spirit gives us utterance and His leading.

This process is the New Birth and causes the Blood of Christ to be applied to our hearts, or inner man, and wash away all of our sins, never to be held against us again. We walk in a new light, or a new understanding, and in a new life, with a joy in our heart that He has loved us, died for us, drawn us to himself, forgiven us, washed us with water in baptism, and empowered us by His Holy Spirit to live a clean life before our Creator.

The Grace and Mercy continue daily as we read His Word and spend time in conversation and meditating on Him. Paul says we are ‘washed’ or cleansed daily by the washing of the water of the Word of God! (Ephesians 5:26) Reading the Bible in sincerity is just like taking a spiritual bath! His Word is a lamp and a light to our feet on the pathway of life.

Paul says no one can condemn us now, because Christ is at the right hand of God, making intercession for us. Hebrews says it is a continual intercession. John says this is necessary, because even as saints, or believers in Christ, we will still sin and fail to do what is right, on any given day of our lives. (There are sins of commission and sins of omission)

Ecclesiastes 7:20 says there is no man who sins not, even if they are righteous. Isaiah 64:6 says all of our righteous acts are as a filthy rag. The Hebrew for this is quite graphic and I’ll let you research its meaning. The point is that no matter how good a person can be, he or she can never be as good as God.

God is Holy and without sin. He is total righteousness. His ways are perfect in heaven and in earth. So man needs a mediator, someone who will intercede for him, someone who will pay the penalty for his sins, someone to make him righteous and clean before a Holy sinless, righteous God.

Jesus Christ is not only our Lamb, He is our ‘propitiation’, or divine covering over our sins.

When God sees you and me, He sees the Blood of His Son covering us. When He sees you and me, He sees the Holy Spirit radiating divine light from us. When He sees you and me, He sees the Righteous acts of Jesus Christ. When He sees you and me, He sees our name as belonging to the Family Name, Jesus Christ!

can't pray

The next time you sin and feel like you can’t pray

So the next time you sin, and it feels like you can’t pray and touch God, remember Jesus is making intercession for you right at that moment before His Father. He has covered your sins that separate you from His Presence. You just have to trust and believe that it is so, as soon as you say that you are sorry and you need His help.

The devil will try to tell you that God is angry with you, and won’t listen to you, and there is no use to pray. He is a liar.

God is never angry with us, as long as Jesus Christ is interceding for us, and as long as He has not returned for His church to take them out of this world. The above Scriptures tell us that He forgives as soon as we repent, not because we deserve it, but because He imputes His Righteousness to cover us because we have confessed Him as our Lamb and High Priest!

Some churches get this message twisted, and judge you harshly if you fail to keep all the bylaws of their organization or the local church body. While we have to judge right from wrong, and protect the flock from wrong teachings, we are never to look down on the one who sins as less than a believer in Christ and as a brother in the Family of God. It becomes another matter when one insists on not repenting and making things right with God; and in those situations, the Bible is clear on breaking that fellowship for the sake of the body. Those cases are few and rare. We are to keep a humble spirit before our Father, and love for our brothers and sisters in the Lord, and restore the brother who errs, in gentleness, with fear that we also could be trapped in their sin. (Galations 6:1, James 5:19)

John chapter seventeen details a prayer that Jesus Christ prayed shortly before His crucifixion. It is called The Great Intercessory Prayer.

Notice some of things that Jesus asks His Father for on your behalf:

  • that we may have eternal life by knowing the Father as God, and Jesus Christ as the Son whom the Father has sent
  • to keep those who have believed in Him through the power of His Name, so that all will be one
  • that we be kept from the evil one, or the devil, and his demons, and not that we would be taken out of the world
  • to sanctify, or set us apart, in Truth, which is His Word
  • to allow us to be with Him where He is (in Heaven), to be able to see His Glory, and to share that Glory with Him

Jesus also prayed for those who would believe because of our testimony to them that we all would be one as the Father and Son are one, with the Father in the Son and the Son in the Father, and the Son in us as believers, and the believers in the Father and in the Son via the power of the Holy Spirit.

nothing you can confess

Jesus Christ loves you when you sin. He loves you so much that He won’t leave you in your sin. He will seek you out for as long it takes to bring you back to Him, at least until He raptures His church. This is why today is the day of salvation. We don’t know when He is returning. What if He comes today? What if you haven’t asked Him to forgive you? What if you miss the rapture of His church? He is coming as a thief in the night. Are you watching for His return?

When you don’t feel like God has heard you because of sin

Just tell God plainly that you have sinned, and ask for forgiveness.

Thank Him and ask for His help to not sin that sin again. No one can live for God without the power of the Holy Spirit to help them. If you try to quit sinning on your own, you will continue to sin. Only God can change a heart, and only He can empower you to live free from the desires of this world and the flesh.

You have to do your part by asking continually, each day, each hour, each minute until you overcome.

feed your spirit with word of god

You also have to feed your spiritual man instead of feeding the flesh. That means spending time reading and studying His Word.

Try reading the Psalms when you are struggling. You will soon feel the Holy Spirit lift from the Bible into your heart, inspiring faith.

Before long, you will desire to pray, and you will ‘feel’ the power of His Presence as He refreshes you as His child! His Presence always brings peace.
