Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is a time of giving thanks for all the good things in your life, and even the bad, because the bad make us grow and mature, whereas all good would make us lazy and complacent.

The History of Thanksgiving is a very good summary of how Thanksgiving Day came to be. Yes, it came by the direction of Presidents, but it was also celebrated by the Indians of this country before the white man arrived.

God instructed Israel to give thanks during their feast of Sukkot or Tabernacles and many believe these festivals will be revived and restored during the Millennial Reign of Christ soon.

What do you have to be thankful for this year?

With all the dramatic changes forthcoming in the leadership of America and its influences, good or bad, on the world, and the threats of ISIS during the Holiday celebrations, and all the wars, sufferings, sickness, disease, poverty, and a whole list of societal ills, what can you be thankful for this year?

So many suffering today around the globe and in our own neighborhoods. So many lack what you have, and you could have so much less than you do; give God thanks for His provision, protection and blessings in whatever form they come to you; knowing that you have very little control over your own life, and whatever you have been blest with has come from your Creator and merciful Savior Jesus Christ!

How about praying the prayer that David prayed in Psalm 138?

I thank you, Lord, with all my heart;
    I sing praise to you before the gods.
I face your holy Temple,
    bow down, and praise your name
because of your constant love and faithfulness,
    because you have shown that your name and your commands are supreme.
You answered me when I called to you;
    with your strength you strengthened me.

All the kings in the world will praise you, Lord,
    because they have heard your promises.
They will sing about what you have done
    and about your great glory.
Even though you are so high above,
    you care for the lowly,
    and the proud cannot hide from you.

When I am surrounded by troubles,
    you keep me safe.
You oppose my angry enemies
    and save me by your power.
You will do everything you have promised;
    Lord, your love is eternal.
    Complete the work that you have begun.

“Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. Whatever you do, whether in word or in deed, do it all in the Name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Colossians 3:16-17

Happy Thanksgiving and be very Thankful!
