The Science of Sound and God’s Voice!

“I AM He!”

While Moses was tending sheep in the land of Midian, he saw a bush that was burning but not being consumed by the fire. As he began to investigate, he heard God speaking to him, “Moses!” “Moses!”

After God called Moses to deliver the Israelites from Egyptian captivity, and after Moses protested against the call, Moses asked for the name by which he is being authorized to speak to a pharaoh.

God answers; “I Am that which I am!” “I Am has sent you!”

Have you ever stopped to think how incredible speech is? I mean just humans speaking to one another, let alone God speaking to humans and humans speaking to God.

The next time you’re talking to someone, stop and think about what’s happening.

  • Your brain has a thought
  • It translates that thought into a pattern of pressure waves
  • Then your lungs send air out of your body
  • As you do that, you vibrate your vocal chords in just the right way
  • You move your mouth and tongue into just the right shapes
  • The air leaves your mouth embedded with a pattern of high and low pressure areas.
  • Those patterns of air waves spreads out to all the air in the vicinity
  • Some of which ends up in your friend’s eardrum
  • When it does, it vibrates their eardrum in such a way as to pass just the right sound waves, and exactly where in the room it came from and the particular tone of voice it came with
  • The eardrum’s vibrations are transmitted through three tiny bones and into a little sac of fluid
  • These then transmit the information into electrical impulses and sends them up the auditory nerve and into the brain, where the information is understood as meaningful words and sounds
  • All of this happens in around an eighth of a second

God talking to Moses is a miracle, but so is humans talking to one another a miracle!

All of this was going on when God spoke to Moses. The vibrations of God’s voice, the Psalmist says, are as many waters or the mighty breakers of the sea! (93:4)

Now think of Jesus in the garden after a long night of heart-wrenching prayer, as He stands ready to greet the temple guards coming to arrest Him.

He asks them a question; “Who are you seeking?”

They answered harshly; “Jesus of Nazareth!”

He answered; “I Am He!”

When Jehovah spoke to Moses, He caused a bush to burn without burning up. (the power of sound waves)

When Jesus speaks to the guards, He causes them to fall backwards to the ground, letting them know that He and His Father are the same, and that He has power to keep them from ever touching Him. (the power of sound waves)

Psalm 46:6 says, “..He raised His voice and the earth melted.”

Scientists tell us that normal conversation sound is around 60 dB.

When sound becomes louder than 170 decibels it can not only vibrate your body, shutting down your vocal cords and organs, but it can kill you.

Saturn V when launched created sound waves so intense that the decibels at 3 miles away were still  135 dB. Enough to make your whole body vibrate. The power of the sound waves set the grass on fire a mile away. Today they flood the launchpad with water to keep from damaging the space rockets.

The shock waves from the Hiroshima bombs traveled 7 miles in 30 seconds!

A volcano in 1883 named Krakatoa occurred on the island Krakatoa in Indonesia. The sound waves were heard 3000 miles away in Australia and circled the earth 3.5 times! It ruptured the eardrums of sailors 40 miles away! The sound was still 172 dB 100 miles away; enough to destroy eardrums and even kill people!

Now we know why God chooses to speak to His people in a still small voice, sometimes just a whisper!

“And after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire the sound of a low whisper.” (I Kings 19:12)

The voice of Christ is so powerful that every knee will fall bow before Him, and those who have served Satan and his antichrist will be consumed by the brightness of Christ’s Presence! ( Zechariah 14:12 & II Thessalonians 2:8)

We know why every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord of lords and King of kings! All Jesus needs to do, as Judge of all the earth, is to say, “I AM He!” The sound waves created by His voice will cause every living being below the earth, in the earth, in the seas, and in the heavens to fall prostrate before Him!

On the Day of Pentecost, there came a sound like as a rushing mighty wind causing all in the upper room to speak in a heavenly language. Paul refers to this language as tongues of angels or praying in the Spirit. (Acts 2:1-4)

Jesus has made it so that all we have to do is vibrate our vocal cords, asking for His forgiveness, and He will give us strength via the Holy Spirit to obey His teachings, while judging our sins as paid in full. If we fail to take His offer of Mercy and Grace now, we will die with our sins attached to our spiritual body, and have to be judged at the White Throne Judgment. (Mark 16:15-18) (Our words vibrating sound waves have power to move the Creator of the Universe!)

You and I have supernatural power in our voices.

Our words have power to bless and to curse. The Occult world uses their voices to speak curses against God’s people. But, when we use our voices to pray to Jehovah God in the Name of Jesus Christ, our words vibrate through the vast distances from earth to heaven and become joined to His Holy Spirit.

If we come acknowledging our need of Him as our savior and Lord, then He grants forgiveness, mercy and grace.

If we confess our sins now, and every day as the Holy Spirit convicts us of sin, then Christ judges those confessed sins, and covers them as forgiven under His Blood.

When we die, our sins have already gone before us to judgment. We get to stand immediately before Christ in peace. This is the Life More Abundantly that He came to give to each of us.

When our sins are covered and forgiven, we stand in peace before Him and eliminate the need for Him to raise His voice of power and authority against us. Christ’s Words reach back from heaven to our hearts with His peace that passes all understanding in a gentle loving voice.

God created sound waves to create the world, and to communicate with you and me. His voice could destroy us, but His love chooses to woo us softly to Him in gentleness. (Psalm 18:35)

He even enables us to speak as angels in the spirit world, bypassing the limitations of our earthly words!

Take time to use the vibrations of your voice to thank Him throughout the days of your life.
