Is Nikolas Cruz an Instrument of Lawlessness?

Nikolas Cruz killed 17 and wounded fourteen others Wednesday afternoon at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

Florida Governor Rick Scott said about Parkland’s shooting:

“You come to the conclusion this is just absolutely pure evil.”

There are many speculations given as to why shooters like Nikolas Cruz kill: easy access to guns; mental health issues; inadequate recognition; lure to kill; fame; anger and lone wolf issues; and the list goes on.

Almost 2000 years ago, Jesus stood on the Mt. of Olives describing “lawlessness” abounding in the last days. His disciples had asked Him what would be signs of His return.

Matthew 24:12, “And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold.”

Lawlessness or iniquity or sin is translated from the Greek word anomia, meaning “lawlessness or without law.”

Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary defines lawless as “not regulated by or based on law’ not restrained by law.”

“For this lawless one is already at work secretly, and it will remain secret until the one who is holding it back steps out of the way.” (II Thessalonians 2:7)

  • The lawlessness is more than physical acts of violence against others and the laws of the land.
  • It is a rejection of the Truth of Jesus Christ!
  • It is the very spirit of the devil inspiring humans to do his dirty work of stealing, killing and destroying. (John 10:10)

Secular-minded politicians are advocating gun control and mental health care, etc. The only thing that will contain the evil of the devil working in and through people is the Holy Spirit of God.

The spirit of lawlessness has deceived people into taking God out of our society and persecuting those who profess a belief in Christ as the only way to eternal life. Even the Vice President is attacked for his Christian beliefs.

Fyodor Dostoevsky, a Russian philosopher, said, “If there is no God, everything is permitted.”

Jesus has told us that the time of His return would be like the days of Sodom and Gomorrah and like the Days of Noah.

He gave us a list of signs that would tell us that we are in the last days when He would soon return as Judge and King of kings. We are seeing all those signs increasing more each day as we approach the One World Government and the attempt to destroy Israel. The antichrist is ready to make his appearance as the false messiah demanding the obedience and worship of the masses.

Peter said as there were scoffers in Noah’s day, so there would be scoffers when Jesus was about to return. (II Peter 3:4)

Paul said people would believe deceptions and lies because they hated the Truth. (II Thessalonians 2:9-12)

People wink at sin today, justifying their lifestyles while professing a god of love without judgment. But, listen to what Jesus says in Matthew 7:21-23:

“Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’”

Whatever issues Nikolas Cruz has doesn’t justify his killing and injuring innocent people. Whatever laws are passed will not prevent future mass killings. Governor Rick Scott is correct in calling it “pure evil.”

The only temporary prevention of lawlessness increasing until the antichrist is revealed, is for people to turn back to God, repent of their sins, turn from their evil ways, then God will hear from heaven, forgive sin and heal the land. (II Chronicles 7:14)

The only permanent prevention is for Jesus Christ to return, judge the earth in righteousness, rule from Jerusalem as King of kings and Lord of lords, filling the earth with His Truth, Glory, and Holiness.

Then the lamb shall lay down with the lion, and nothing shall hurt or destroy and nations will not learn war, and there will be no more tears, sorrow, pain, suffering, or death.

We pray for those like Nikolas Cruz, and we ask for God’s forgiveness as we, in turn, try to obey His Laws and Teachings, asking for His Kingdom to come and His Will to be done in every heart. We declare with the Apostles and Prophets of the Bible:

“Come quickly, Lord Jesus!”
