The Tongue of Man-Part Four

The tongue of man has been given to glorify God. We are above the animals with the ability to choose between right and wrong, and to be able to open our mouths to express what is within our hearts. We are made a little lower than the angels, who give God praise and worship continually, while they obediently carry out His directives. Even Lucifer led the whole of heaven in worship and praise to God before his pride caused his fall from grace. David said that all of creation gives glory to God, and their testimony is heard throughout all the earth.

Yet man also has the ability to lift himself up as the source of his intellect and skills, forgetting to give credit to the one who gives him breath each morning. We have no promise of tomorrow and yet man spends most of his time serving selfish agendas. In doing so he automatically gives the enemy the credit, instead of God. You can’t serve two masters. If you serve self, you serve Satan and his world, distancing yourself from God. If you serve God you distance yourself from self and Satan. You can’t have your pie and eat it too in the spiritual world that is all around us.

Some try to practice positive thoughts, words, and actions, thinking that they will help usher in a New Age of peace and harmony. They have been trying to think and act this new age into existence for two thousand years in one form or another, and it isn’t working. The world today has very little respect for the life of their fellow man, and violence is at an all time high, increasing each day, propelling us toward Armageddon. Self and his works of righteousness is still tainted by the carnal mind under the rule of Satan. Satan doesn’t care how good man tries to be, as long as man does not confess his need of Jesus Christ as his redeemer. The Bible plainly says that all who have not believed in the Son of God are under condemnation.

It is by faith that we are saved and not of our own works. Jesus had to die a horrible death on a Roman cross to pay the penalty for the sins of the world. His flesh was ripped in shreds from His back, by a whip with pieces of metal in it. His brow was punctured with a crown of thorns. His beard was plucked out by the roots. His face was beaten so that His visage was marred. His hands and feet were fastened to the cross with long Roman nails. His lungs were compressed with the weight of His broken body. He bore the spiritual and emotional weight of all the sins of all the people of the world on that cross. Because of the sinfulness of it all, His Father had to withdraw His Presence from His Son, allowing Jesus to die in agony alone for you and I. Satan and his evil demons laughed and mocked Jesus, thinking that Satan had won the victory. Then Jesus descended first into the lower parts of the earth, and took the keys of death, hell, and the grave from Satan, making a public spectacle of him before the angels of God. Satan was surprised once again, and became very livid against God, Christ, His believers, Israel and mankind.

God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16 Our self-righteousness will not justify the sinfulness of this flesh. Only the Blood of Jesus Christ was able to pay the ransom demanded by Satan for our souls. Our responsibility is to acknowledge our helplessness to save ourselves and open our mouth and exercise our tongues to ask Him for forgiveness and salvation, thanking Him for dying for us. By faith are you saved. The heart believes and the mouth speaks the belief of the heart. The tongue is set on fire by God’s Holy Spirit instead of yielding itself to the fire of hell.

Hebrews 3:1 ESV, “Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession,”

If we have no confession, we have no high priest. Jesus is the high priest of what we confess. When we say with our mouths what the Bible says, Jesus exercises His office as High Priest and releases His authority and blessing over our confession. It works the same way with the dark side of the spirit world. Satan will be your high priest, your god, your angel-guide, whatever it takes to deceive you into giving your tongue to lifting his kingdom of darkness above the kingdom of God. Our confession, our words, attract either the kingdom of God or the kingdom of Satan, the angels of God or the angels (demons, evil spirits) of Satan.

Take time to listen to some testimonies of those who have left the occult world. You will hear them testify about the power of the tongue and their confessions of intent to attract demons and Satan. It is an evil, scary world just beyond the veil of our flesh and soul. We are spirit, soul and body. The Word of God is a powerful and sharp two-edged sword that divides the soul and spirit asunder. This is an important separation. God has ordained that we seek the spiritual world through Jesus Christ as in Him are the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, and through Him there is safety from the evil spirit world. If we seek the spiritual world without going through Christ, we open ourselves up to demonic possession and harassment, and eventually death. Jesus is the way, the door into the merciful presence of God. Any other door will lead right into Satan’s world of darkness and evil.

It all starts with the tongue. As we have seen in the previous posts, the tongue has the power to bless and the power to curse. This is the spirit world. The tongue is the main doorway into the spirit world. The tongue expresses what is in our hearts, or souls. The soul is of utmost importance to both spirit worlds. God needs your soul and thus your tongue to propagate His message, and the devil needs your soul and your tongue to propagate his message. God’s message is forgiveness and love through Jesus Christ as the Son of God, via the Redemption of His Blood. Satan’s message is hate and violence as you serve self with your rebellion against God’s Son. One brings freedom and life, and the other bondage and death.

What do we see around us today? Bondage to many things that harm and destroy self, the family unit, society, and the nations of the world. Satan is the god of this world and the whole world lies in darkness. He is the prince and power of the air and keeps mankind blinded to the light of the Gospel that is able to set them free.

When we proclaim something into the spiritual world around us, we release authority of that spirit world into our lives or the lives of others. The Occult practitioners use books of incantations which they read and quote into the dark spirit world to attract evil spirits for favor or to curse others. Christians have the Bible that Jesus said is the Word of God and that it is Spirit and Life. It is alive.

Five years ago, I laid my Bible down on the kitchen counter while I went about doing some chores around the house. My wife came home from work and noticed the Bible laying there, and she wanted to see if I highlighted in my Bible like she did in hers. When she went to open it, she said there was a power that just pushed her hand back up away from it. She went, ‘Ooh’, quickly shutting the Bible and going about her business. I sleep with the Bible under my pillow each night, because I know that it is Spirit and alive with the Life of Jesus Christ. I have done this ever since I saw how the demons respond to the Bible when they are being cast out of a person under their bondage. When you tell a devil to look at the Word of God, he looks at the Word of God. When you tell him to come out in the Name of Jesus Christ, he comes out. The demons believe that there is one God and tremble. (James 2:19)

Psalm 33:6 KIV “By the Word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.” The Hebrew word for breath is Ruach and is also the word for spirit. All creation came through two agents: the Word of God and the Spirit of God. Everything that exists or will exist owes its origin to these two forces working together, The Word must work with the Spirit. Jesus said they that worship the Father, must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. He also said that God’s Word is Truth.

As we speak, we release breath, or spirit out of our lungs, it passes through the mouth and the nose, producing sounds. We learn from birth to recognize these sounds and imitate those of our parents. We can not speak without breathing. The Word and the Spirit always go together.

Isaiah 55:10-11 ESV, “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” God says…My Word that goes forth from MY Mouth…His Word is propelled by His breath or Spirit. II Corinthians 3:6 speaks of the letter killing but the Spirit giving life. The Word by itself kills souls, but the Word with the Spirit gives life to those who read it with Faith. The two must always operate together.

If I confess words with my breath or with my spirit, then they are going to have a cause and effect in the spirit world. If I want the life and blessing that come from God’s kingdom, then I need to intently direct my words in agreement with Him. If I want to attract the darkness and evil that comes from Satan’s kingdom, then I need to intently direct my words in agreement with him. If I choose to not direct my words in agreement with God, I automatically choose to direct them toward Satan, because without God, we belong to this world and its god, Satan. Words are powerful.
