There is a lot of New Age talk about light and energy that connects us to other-worldly beings. The danger is that these other-worldly beings can be demons disguising themselves as your angel-guides. (II Corinthians 11:14)
There is always some truth in false teachings. Our bodies do emit light. There is a study by Northwestern University showing DNA blinking light. God created Adam in His image and likeness.
If we look at the transfiguration of Jesus, we can see more what Adam’s garment of light was like inside the Garden of Eden.
Peter, James, and John saw Jesus transfigured before them. His face shown like the sun, and His clothes became white as the light. (Matthew 17:2) The Greek word for light here is phos from where we get our word photo or photon.
- Jesus is the Light of the world. God is Light and dwells in that Light which no mortal man can even approach. (I John 1:5, I Timothy 6:16, John 8:12)
- Jesus allowed His Divine Light to shine through and radiate from His garments on the Mt. of Transfiguration!
- Jesus appears at the end of the tribulation with an army of believers all clothed in fine white linen on white horses. (Revelation 19:8, 20:11-14)
The Greek word for bright in Revelation 19:8 is lampron signifying shining. The Liddell, Scott, and Jone Classical Greek Lexicon defines it as “bright, radiant, of the sun and stars.”
Paul says that when we die believing in the Lord as the only way to eternal life, our mortal bodies will be changed into immortal ones. There are earthly bodies and heavenly ones. This natural body of flesh will be changed into a spiritual body like the Lord’s. (I Corinthians 15:35-58)
- Jesus says, “Then the righteous shall shine forth as the sun in the Kingdom of the Father.” (Matthew 13:43)
- Daniel 12:3 says, “Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever.”
- Proverbs 4:18 says, “But the path of the just is like the shining of the sun.”
- Judges 5:31 says, “Thus let all Your enemies perish, O Lord! But let those who love Him be like the sun when it comes out in full strength.”
If we could see our loved ones who have died believing in Jesus Christ as their God, we would see them without earthly clothing and mortal fleshly skin, and see them clothed in a garment of light or with white raiment! (Revelation 3:5, 4:4) (Near Death Experiencers describe seeing loved ones radiating bright light.)
The Jewish Midrash says that God clothed Adam and Eve with garments of skin after they sinned. Before their sin, they were clothed with garments of light, which were like a shining torch.
When they realized they were naked, it was not just physical nakedness, but the absence of the garment of light. The celestial luster which had enveloped them was now gone, so they covered themselves with fig leaves. Man has been justifying or covering his sin ever since. But fig leaves can’t cover the spirit of man.
When John says we shall see Jesus as He is and be like Him, he means that we will be clothed with the same light that God is clothed with and that we will shine seven times brighter than the sun! (Isaiah 30:26)
Adam was clothed with the light and glory of God, and this was how he was able to walk and commune with God each evening. When he sinned, he lost that covering of light and realized that he didn’t radiate any more and cried, “I am naked!”
This is the same thing that sinners without God’s forgiveness will say at the moment of death and Judgment Day. “I am naked!” “I judge myself to be unworthy to stand in your Glory.”
Only the covering of the Blood of Jesus Christ can blot out your sins so completely that even God can’t see them. Only then can His Holy Spirit indwell your spiritual man and make you radiate more and more until the day He Raptures you to His side. (Proverbs 4:18)
Moses spent so much time in the Presence of God that his face radiated light so bright, the people asked him to cover his face with a veil. (Exodus 34:35)
Today people pray “Microwave Prayers.” Say it in ten seconds and done, then wonder why there is no burning in their spirit for God.
I have prayed with so many over the years witnessing their faces radiating the Glory of God as His Spirit enveloped (clothed) them with His love and power. God is light, and we are to be clothed with that light for all eternity.
Our DNA and cells radiate light because we were created with a garment of light! We lost that garment through sin. We are reclothed with a little bit of the garment of light when we are Born Again as in the Book of Acts. We will be fully clothed with God’s Light when we either we die and are with the Lord or when we are Raptured. Then we shall be as Adam was in the Garden of Eden.
Stay away from New Agers and false demons appearing as angels of light. Instead get into God’s Word which is Light and Life and draw near to Jesus Christ as the only Truth and Light. Only then will you find a covering of light for your sins and hope for an eternity clothed in light and dwelling in a light that no mortal can ever hope to experience!
